PerformanceA saturated fatty acid, pure white soft flakes with a luster. The relative density is 0.9408(20 ℃), the melting point is 69~70 ℃, the boiling point is 383 ℃, and the refractive index is 1.4299(80 ℃). The industrial product is white or slightly yellow granular, which is a mixture of stearic acid and palmitic acid, and contains a small amount of oleic acid. Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in benzene, toluene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, amyl acetate, soluble in ethanol, acetone.
UseStearic acid plays an important role in the synthesis and processing of rubber. Stearic acid is a widely used vulcanizing agent in natural rubber, synthetic rubber and latex, and can also be used as a plasticizer and softener. In the production of synthetic rubber process to add stearic acid as emulsifier, in the manufacture of foam rubber, stearic acid can be used as a foaming agent, stearic acid can also be used as a release agent for rubber products.
